“Only way to create world peace… is for each person to have peace in themselves” Matt

Today I am grateful to chat with Matt Tenney. Matt has an incredible story, and you are going to love hearing about it. Matt is the author of two awesome books Serve to Be Great and his new book The Mindfulness Edge.

Matt comes from Nashville, TN and works with companies and groups to develop highly effective leaders who achieve lasting success by inspiring greatness in the people around them. Matt knows effectively serving others is the key to true greatness.

I was blown away by Matt’s story and who he was in that moment. Walking in the emotion of mindfulness frames who he is. Matt and I have similar paths in life with writing and speaking and learning and sharing.

Matt wanted to be a pilot and joined the Marine Corps as an officer after college. He gave up his flying contract, so he wouldn’t have to be in the military for 12 years. While serving at Camp Pendleton, he discovered a way to get unauthorized money from the military. Having a plot to steal 3 million dollars is a great way to end up in a military prison.

While Matt was confined, he discovered mindfulness, and his mission to alleviate suffering and unhappiness began. He discovered that the best way for peace is for individuals to have peace in themselves. He also discovered the best way to serve others is to share this message through businesses, organizations and thought leaders.

The Mindfulness Edge

Matt believes that practicing mindfulness is living from moment to moment, and the attitude of curiosity and openness without judgement is all we need to do to grow with mindfulness.

“That permanent end is when every single person has unconditional happiness" - Matt
